The joint venture between Yanmar Co. Ltd. and ITL (International Tractors Limited) was formed in 2011 to manufacture and market tractors under the "Solis Yanmar" brand name. A leading Japanese manufacturer of agricultural machinery, Yanmar brought its technical expertise and product knowledge to the partnership, while ITL, which is the 3rd largest tractor manufacturer, brought to table its extensive experience of the Indian market.
The joint venture was set up with an aim to produce high-quality tractors that would cater to the needs of Indian farmers while also being competitive in the global market. The company set up a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, with a capacity to produce 60,000 tractors per year.
The first Solis Yanmar tractor was launched in 2013, and since then, the company has expanded its product range and market presence both in India and globally. As of date, the company rolls out 120 tractor variants that are supporting farmers to maximise their productivity as well as income. .

The Solis brand of tractors is owned by the Indian company ITL (International Tractors Limited), and sister concren of Sonalika Group. Mr. Lakshman Das Mittal, the founder of the Sonalika Group, is credited with establishing ITL and nurturing it to stand tall among top 5 tractor and farm equipment manufacturer in India.
The Solis brand, specifically, was created through a joint venture between ITL and Yanmar Co. Ltd. of Japan. Solis is led by Dr. Deepak Mittal, who is the son of Sh. LD Mittal and has spearheaded company to strengthen its position across the world.
